“Month of Dhul Hijjah, Day of ‘Arafah, Takbeer of Tashreeq, ‘Eidul Adha & Qurbani”.
(1) Holy Prophet (saw) has said “Good deeds are beloved to Allah almighty in the 1st 10 days of Dhul Hijjah more than any other days”. Bukhari, Muslim & Tirmidhi.
(2) Holy Prophet (saw) has said ” whoever has seen the moon of Dhul Hijjah and they intend to sacrifice animal, they should not trim their hair or file their nails”. Muslim, Tirmidhi.
(3) Holy Prophet (saw) has said ” Fasting on the day of ‘Arafah, I hope that, Allah almighty will forgive the past and future year’s sins”. Muslim, Tirmidhi.
(4) Holy Prophet (saw) used to read this du’a on the day of ‘Arafah,
“لا إله إلا الله، وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد، وهو على كل شيء قدير”
Tirmidhi, Silsilatul Ahadith Al Sahihah.
(5) Holy Prophet (saw) used to read Takbeer of Tashreeq from Fajr of 9th till ‘Asr of 13th Dhul Hijjah, which is
“الله أكبر الله أكبر، لا إله إلا الله، والله اكبر الله اكبر، ولله الحمد”
Zadul Ma’ad of Hafiz Ibnul Qayyim.
(6) Holy Prophet (saw) never used to go for ‘Eidul Fitr Salah without eating anything and for ‘Eidul Adha he will not eat until offered his “Eid Salah”. Tirmidhi, Mishkat.
(7) Holy prophet (saw) would change his route to and from ‘Eid Salah. Bukhari, Mishkat.
(8) Holy prophet (saw) has said ” Most beloved action of the servant to Allah on the day of ‘Eid is to sacrifice animal” Tirmidhi. In another Hadith prophet (saw) said ” Qurbani (sacrificing animal) is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (as), for every hair and fur of the animal you will receive a reward”. Ahmad, Ibn Majah.
(9) Qurbani is compulsory upon every mature Muslim who has wealth equal to 87.48 grams of gold. ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar (ra) has narrated that ” Holy Prophet (saw) stayed in Al Madinah al Munawwarah for complete 10 yrs, every year he would perform Qurbani”. Tirmidhi, Mishkat.
(10) Holy prophet (saw) has said “Every nation has a day of celebration, and this is (‘Eidul Fitr & ‘Eidul Adha) our days of celebration”. Bukhari, Muslim.
(11) Holy prophet (saw) has said ” Very first thing we do on this day is we perform ‘Eid Salah, than we return to perform our Udhiyyah (Qurbani)”.Bukhari, Muslim.
(12) ‘Eid Salah is compulsory and it’s like a normal Salah with only 6 or 12 additional Takbeer. Both of this methods are proven from Sunnah and practices of the Salaf. For proofs of 6 additional Takbeer refer to the following Hadith; Abu Dawood 1153, Ahmad 19749, Tabrani 193/1(Musnad of Shamiyyen), Musannaf ‘Abdul Razzaq 5687, Tabrani 9516. Majma’ Al Zawaid 204/2.
For 12 additional Takbeer refer to Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Ahmad, Mishkat etc.
(13) Takbeer of Tashreeq should be recited once after every Fard Salah from Fajr of 9th till ‘Asr of 13th Dhul Hijjah, similarly it should be recited in abundance on them days specially at the time of going and returning from ‘Eid Salah.
(14) Qurbani can be performed on the 10th, 11th or 12th of Dhul Hijjah and it’s compulsory upon every mature Muslim who has wealth equal to 87.48 grams of gold on the 3 days of ‘Eid.
(15) with regards to the additional Takbeer of ‘Eid Salah either 6 or 12, neither of them are found in Bukhari or Muslim. Similarly neither of them are Sahih in the term of Hadith, infact both of them are Hasan Hadith. The difrences amongst the scholars is only based on Afdhaliyyah, (which one is best) therefore everyone should respect both of the opinions and avoid any kind of disputes.
