Leytonstone stabbing: Young man fighting for his life after being knifed ‘five or six times’ in high street

A young man is fighting for his life after being stabbed “five or six times” in east London this afternoon. 

The victim, who is thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, was knifed in Leytonstone High Road at around 3.30pm today. 

leytonstone newsA shop worker near to the scene of the attack said the victim – who he desribed as black and aged around 19 – arrived at his store asking for water before collapsing in front of the door.

The witness, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Standard: “He walked in front of the door and collapsed. He was coming inside and was asking for water and then after about 10 seconds he just collapsed in front of the door.

“He had been stabbed five or six times I think”.

Bloodied clothes were later visible in the doorway of the shop on the high street.

A Met Police spokesman said he was treated by the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance medics and is in a critical condition.

He added: “Officers from Waltham Forest are investigating.

“Road closures are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the Leytonstone area.

“There has been no arrest at this early stage.”
